Barbell bench press builds strength but it also locks you into a fixed position under heavy load.
That’s where problems can start.
If you’re powerlifting or just training for strength, go for it.
But for bodybuilding where shape, symmetry, and detail matter, one injury can change everything.
I’d rather use movements I can control and load safely.
If you still want that bar path, use the Smith machine.
More stability.
More control.
Less risk.
